Trial09 is a killer prog-rock band, with intricate guitar-and-bass interplay, powerful drumming, and great vocals. We loved sharing a bill with them at the fabulous Congress Coffee and were blown away by their musicianship, songwriting, and performance. Congress captured a board mix of the live set, so stay tuned; we hope to put a few of the best tracks on streaming. The July 26 Black Pontiac show was killer. Phreqed opened with new material and select covers, and the crowd was jumping by mid-set to Bird Jam, especially when Mike dive-rolled into the audience. Cas followed with powerful, emotive compositions and great energy, before Black Pontiac delivered a headliner set that had the room jumping and singing along. We loved chatting with the band at their busy merch booth before and after the show. If you get a chance to see Black Pontiac live, do it! Stagger, Blooper, and Phreqed took over Pizza Bob's on a Saturday night with a contingent of high-energy fans to raise funds for Made by Momma. The sets were so energetic that a snare was sacrificed to the punk gods, and the event raised more than $500 for the charity.
